Brand new, unused Sun Surf Hyakutora (Hundred Tigers) "Jigoku" (Hell) - Size S

This is the "Hundred Tigers (Hell)" reissued in 2019 from the SUN SURF SPECIAL EDITION.
I've worn it twice, but it's in beautiful condition with no scratches or stains.

This Aloha shirt features a design considered the king of Japanese patterns, and it's extremely popular. You'd be hard-pressed to find it in stock anywhere now.
This is a deadstock item, making it very rare.

I've been keeping it as part of my collection, but I'm selling it because the size no longer fits.

"Hundred Tigers" is considered one of the masterpieces among Aloha shirts. The era it was made can be analyzed from details such as the sewing specifications, but the artist remains unknown even after examining many materials. Furthermore, the "KALAKAUA" brand that produced the vintage item is still shrouded in mystery, with the only known fact being that it was based in Honolulu, Oahu.

However, there is no doubt that this work, with its bold yet delicate and intricate composition and overflowing dynamism, is a masterpiece that brought together the best of Japanese printing technology of the 1950s. Its perfect print presents a high hurdle for reproduction, but the fact that it also stimulates the maker's enthusiasm remains unchanged from that time. After repeated trial and error with craftsmen, and after a process that took three years, the "Hundred Tigers" roars again in the present day.

For this re-release of the Hundred Tigers, Sun Surf has completely rebuilt the printing plates from scratch based on the deadstock vintage they own. They adjusted the unique colors of the dyes used at the time, accurately counted all of the more than 10,000 tiger stripes (torafu) of the design composed of 17 tigers, and reproduced the original without any deviation by layering 14 colors of printing plates that were intricately carved. Furthermore, by using the same "KALAKAUA" name as the vintage, a complete reproduction has been achieved.
