Kutani ware Japanese porcelain made in Kaga province (now in Ishikawa prefecture). “Old Kutani" refers to porcelain decorated with heavily applied overglaze enamels and produced in the Kaga mountain village of Kutani. On most pieces—a white or blue-white matte glaze is decorated in dark, restrained colors, initially greens, yellows, and some reds and blues, all with a more earth-tone color pallet.

This beautiful Foo dog Kutani ginger jar Temple Jar depicts males painted and detailed on the side of the jar. With golden accents and raised white enamel points.

The Ginger jar handles and lid topper are adorned with the Foo dog; they symbolize prosperity, success, and guardianship, a regal adornment to this spectacular piece.

Measures with a lid 13" tall and is approx 7" wide.
